The new AA single from Underworld, ‘Soniamode’ and ‘Listen To Their No’, were added to the BBC 6 Music B List this week. The tracks feature in Underworld’s magnificent Drift project, the 52-week project in which the band release one song every week for a year. The release of these singles in particular coincide with the news that Underworld will be collating their releases into the Drift Songs album release, coming later on in the year, and the announcement of the band playing at Wembley Arena towards the end of the year.
Underworld were asked to headline and close out the Biggest Weekend in Belfast for BBC 6 Music. It was here, the first time that they performed in Belfast, that they premiered their new single ‘Bells & Circles’, featuring Iggy Pop.
Their performance was broadcast on BBC 4, as well as on the BBC 6 Music website, and can be watched back here on the BBC iPlayer.
Karl Hyde from Underworld was invited in to Wogan House this morning to announce their headline slot at BBC’s Biggest Weekend. They will be headlining the stage on Saturday 26th May as part of BBC 6 Music event in Belfast.

Following on from the successes of previous singles ‘I Exhale’ and ‘If Rah’ – both added to the A-List over at 6 Music – Underworld’s ‘Nylon Strung’ has been added to the B-List over at 6 Music. The track is the third release from their 2016 album ‘Barbara Barbara we face a shining future’, and the third to be added to the 6 Music Playlist.
This great news follows a spectacular performance from the band at Glastonbury, with the live version of ‘Two Months Off’ from their set receiving plenty of plays across the station as a result also.
Following on from the success of ‘I Exhale’ and the top 10 album from Underworld, ‘If Rah’, the second single from ‘Barbara Barbara’, is added straight to the A-List at BBC 6 Music.
BBC 6 Music have been highly instrumental in the promotion of ‘Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future’, making the record Album of the Day on its release day back in March, and helping to secure its top 10 position in the Album Charts.
‘If Rah’ now follows in the footsteps of preceding single ‘I Exhale’, having been added straight to the A-List, which is excellent news ahead of Underworld’s second appearance at Coachella this weekend, and their Glastonbury appearance in the summer.
‘Barbara Barbara, we face a shining future’ is Album of the Day this Friday 18 March on 6 Music, coinciding with the release date of the record.
‘Barbara Barbara’ is the seventh studio album from Underworld, and features the brand new single, ‘I Exhale’, which has had extensive radio play across the station due to its addition to the A-List.
Underworld performed an amazing headline set at the 6 Music Festival in Bristol, where they previewed their new material. The set is still available to watch via the 6 Music website here: Underworld at 6 Music Festival.
‘I Exhale’ has also enjoyed radio play across BBC Radio 1, via Annie Nightingale, Pete Tong, B Traits, and George Fitzgerald during his Radio 1 Residency slot.
